ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Lidia O. Fernandes was born in Coimbra, Portugal, and later moved to the outskirts of Lisbon, where she grew up and completed her studies. From an early age, she was drawn to learning, drawing, and storytelling, interests that would accompany her long before she ever considered writing fiction of her own.

Her academic path led her into the sciences. She earned her first degree in Nutrition, followed by a degree in Dentistry, a profession that would later take her far beyond her home country. In her early thirties, Lidia married and welcomed her first daughter, a life-changing chapter that reshaped her priorities. Not long after, she and her husband moved to England so he could pursue his career as an Osteopath. It was there that Lidia established herself professionally, practicing as a dentist for over fifteen years. It was also there she continue her studies and finish a master’s degree in Orthodontics.

During this time, their family grew. A second daughter joined them, followed soon after by a much-loved four-legged companion, DJ, a friendly and loyal Belgian Shepherd and a smaller one, Angel, our beloved Persian cat. Today, Lidia lives in Kent with her husband and their two daughters, trying to balance a busy family lifestyle, between her work and all the children’s activities, sometimes it is a bit chaotic, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Reading has been a constant passion throughout Lidia’s life. As a child and teenager, she gravitated toward adventure, action novels, and comics, stories filled with movement, danger, and possibility. University years brought an inevitable focus on scientific textbooks and demanding exam seasons, but even then, reading remained her refuge. It was during this time that she began exploring new genres, particularly romance and fantasy, discovering the emotional depth and imaginative freedom they offered.

For Lidia, reading has always been more than entertainment. It is a way to disconnect from the noise of reality and enter a state of immersion that only fellow readers truly understand. A book can provoke laughter, tears, anger, and joy, much like a film, but with greater intimacy, detail, and emotional resonance. That deep connection to stories is what ultimately inspired her to begin writing.

Writing her own book became Lidia’s way of giving something back to readers like herself: a temporary escape, a place to retreat, and a world filled with compelling characters and meaningful journeys. What began as a love for reading evolved naturally into a love for storytelling. Writing is not a career choice born of ambition, but an act of passion and creativity.

When she is not working, writing or reading, Lidia enjoys traveling with her family, often exploring new countries or revisiting beloved destinations. She has a particular fondness for visiting castles, gardens, museums, and theme parks, places where history and imagination intersect. At home, she loves cooking for her family and baking on weekends, finding joy in simple moments shared around the table.
